I’m Megan Hughes, Director of Preschool Operations. I have over 20 years of experience in early childhood education, as well as my time teaching third-grade, and hold a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from VCU. I’ve been the director at Derbyshire Preschool for almost 15 years managing a team of 25 staff members and 85 children 6months-PK. 
 
I’m passionate about creating a safe, nurturing, and play-based environment where children feel valued, supported, and inspired to learn. You’ll often find me holding and reading stories with the babies, playing on the floor with the toddlers, or engaging the preschoolers in their hands-on learning and exploration. I’m also dedicated to supporting our teachers, collaborating and mentoring them so together we can provide the highest quality care and education for every child. 
 
I enjoy building strong relationships with families and partnering with them to support their children’s growth and development. I believe children thrive when they feel confident, curious, and encouraged to explore and ask questions.  One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching children’s faces light up when they’re learning something new. I love spending time with my children, taking walks in nature, and listening to audio books. I’m excited to join the LeafSpring community and look forward to getting to know every child and family.
